Miosotis Award

Fonte Hotel - Aldeia da Fonte was awarded with Miosotis - Green Lodging which is a way of recognizing good environmental practices assigned by Azores Regional Government biannualy.
The ceremony was yesterday the 13th in the "Casa da Montanha" (Mountain House) having the reward handed by the Regional Secretary of the Environment.
Miosotis is the name of a small endemic flower of the Azores.

Remodelation finished.. at São João building

As a result of official approval of the remodeling of the hotel, Aldeia da Fonte has remodelated the São João building.
We should like to mention that all our buildings have names of the different hamlets of Lajes do Pico Municipality.
We modernized but keeped in touch with the classical/charming decor of the hotel. All the pictures we are going to use to decorate de rooms have been taken in location as well as people who live there. This way it will be possible to enjoy the outstanding location and gardens of the premises but, at the same time, be in touch with local people and different local sceneries.
We want to offer our guests a truely azorean experience wich will of course include our excellent fish and meat. And the emotions will carry on to our Whale Watching Tower, the NEW sea lounge, that we already shared the pictures, and our special swimming pool just above the Atlantic ocean.

ALDEIA DA FONTE HOTEL was a project started 20 years in Pico Island, Azores and the concept was to plan and built an hotel by sea which could improve the landscape and the environment and prove that it is possible to blend business and nature with an win-win initiative. 

            So it was decided to build five different buildings inspired in local architecture so the hotel could respect the land and “disappear” among gardens and lush trees and overlook the sea from above the cliffs of Pigeon Bay where hundreds of wild pigeons live. And result was an hotel we don´t “see” from anywhere: land, sea or air. You have to be inside the premises to really understand all the facilities put at disposition among 40 lodging units.

            Aldeia da Fonte is not, therefore, a hotel where you simply rent a room or  a suite to sleep in. By renting a room you will be able to fully enjoy a natural park just by the sea and walk around to discover all sort of corners and hidden surprises that will go from the Tai Chi gardens overlooking the hotel to the Sea Lounge just by the sea or walk in an amazing trail to go and swim at the sea or to go to panoramic hotel swimming pool.

             Or you might prefer to go our private whale watching tower where you will be able to spot whales and dolphins or enjoy the quietude of the Zen Room where you will be able to practice yoga or have a professional massage by one of our physiotherapist.  Or simply roam about our gardens and enjoy a deep breath of the best air you can have.

            And then go to our Restaurant praised like one of the best of the island where will be able to enjoy the best of local products like fish and meat as well as Pico wines and cheeses.

            To complete our concept of fruition and wellness we are going to start building (before the end of 2012) a Spa Thalasso within a short walk that will provide you all sort of treatments and menus foe Health and Wellness.
