Geoparque Açores - Integrado na Rede Europeia de Geoparques | Integrated in the European Geoparks Network

A votação realizada ao final da tarde de quinta-feira na sede da UNESCO, em Paris, foi unânime.

" O Geoparque Açores é único no mundo por ter 121 geossítios espalhados por nove ilhas, espelhando a vasta geodiversidade vulcânica do arquipélago, incluindo caldeiras, campos lávicos ou cordilheiras vulcânicas, que reportam uma memória geológica de 10 milhões de anos." 

Esta integração significa que  irão "reforçar as interligações entre a geologia, as paisagens vulcânicas, a biodiversidade e os valores culturais do arquipélago"

The voting held in the late afternoon of Thursday at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, was unanimous.

"The Azores Geopark is unique in the world for having 121 geosites scattered nine islands, mirroring the vast archipelago of volcanic geodiversity, including boilers, lava fields and volcanic ridges, which reported a geological memory of 10 million years."

This integration means that will "strengthen the links between the geology, volcanic landscapes, biodiversity and cultural values ​​of the archipelago"
